Shiatsu originated in Japan and the direct translation of Shiatsu means “finger pressure”. It is based on the holistic system of traditional Chinese medicine. The practice of Shiatsu uses finger and palm pressure to energize pathways and increase the flow of energy.
It is known to relive stiffness in muscles, alleviate stress and improve circulation. Certain pressure points may feel tender or painful to the pressure but it is known as good pain.
The majority of our practitioners come from main-land China where the practice and merit’s of foot reflexology are well known. Based on the premise that our feet are like the roots of a tree, massage of the thousands of nerve endings in the feet will benefit you through the reduction in pain and tension while also increasing relaxation. Treatments have been known to have positive results with people who suffer from diabetes, poor circulation, high blood pressure, migraines, digestive problems, and stress. A relaxed mind and body lead to better sleep, more focus while awake and overall improvement in the quality of life
Hand reflexology can be as effective and possibly more than foot reflexology depending on your use of your hands daily. Your hands are also connected to your organs and other parts of your body. Your bodies positive response to hand reflexology includes improvement of blood circulation, relaxation and increase in range of motion in your joints.
While your hands may not be as sensitive as your feet and the reflex points are deeper the results can be very similar. Hand reflexology can be offered independently or at the beginning or end of a foot reflexology treatment.
